I was getting extremely frustrated after days of trying to find the proper USB drivers for my Gateway Armada e500 laptop running a fresh install of Windows 98 SE until i ran across this site purely by accident. I figured I would give this a try because I was starting to get desperate at this point. I had already gone through over a dozen CD-R disks in an attempt to find the right drivers and had one more left. Took a chance and burned this software to my very last CD and installed it. IT WORKED!! It read and installed my 16gb flash drive immediately. No more burning disks to copy files to my laptop. THANK YOU!!!
fantastic!! thanks very much. it worked for my Toshiba satellite 320 with dual dos and win 98. it even reads sd cards with the appropiate interface. all in fat32 ofcourse. this configuration is ideal for flashing old motorola radio equipment both with DOS and windows CPS
I haven't used any Transcend products; but...my compact flash adapter is by Microtech and I have compact flash cards by Memorex and ScanDisk. The drivers needed are part of Win98SE and will load the first time you put an adapter in your PCMCIA/PC Card slot. Don't be surprised if it adds another one if you get a new card that is a different MB in size that what you already have.
If you need help with the drive, you have a number of options. Transcend offers a long, two-year warranty, and toll-call tech support is available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT. On weekends, you can e-mail techsupport@transcend.com. The company's site is a little tricky, but you'll find drivers and other info on the drive in the form of a few FAQs and downloads.
I followed the directions here, but when the computer starts up, it freezes on the first'system disk initializing'. Any ideas? I tried connecting the disk two different ways: thru the HD slot (yes, the usb is in that port) and thru the USB port.
