the aim of the present research is to enhance the application of an advanced bayesian mr on vector field data with an improvement of the proposed modeling for the modulation of the atmospheric and land parameters. a novel feature of the bayesian mr is the incorporation of a new priori function of the parameters. data from a sound source measured with the microphone of an ultrasound cleaning device were used for estimating the parameters of a second order model describing sound propagation in the half space atmosphere. the performance of the mr was evaluated with simulated noise fields. while the mr could perfectly reconstruct sound sources embedded in a quiet noise field, it was unable to separate them from a noisy environment. using a priori information, however, the parameter estimates of the bayesian mr were improved and the separation between embedded and non-embedded sound sources could be achieved. furthermore, an efficient mode of posteriori estimation was used which replaced the highly time-consuming simulated annealing algorithm by a new procedure. 3 figures, 14 refs.
