After the first stage, the practitioner now enters the second stage of generation called the stage of prior accomplishment (laghukrama). This stage is the explicit realization of awakening; the promised fruit of work done during the first stage. This stage is obtained via three simple, yet powerful practices: Loving-kindness, Bodhicitta, and Symmetry.[116]
Bodhicitta is activated through the concept of ``I'm Your Buddha. I'll be your emissary down the stream of samsara should you agree to follow. Mindful of the sufferings of others (past, present and future), I vow to use my Bodhicitta to deliver all beings from suffering, regardless of being a buddhas or sentient beings. May all beings be happy and free from suffering and lead a happy, karma-less and engaging life. By always trying to benefit others, I will save all beings, and to accomplish this I will do anything, no matter how hard. With this in mind, I will train myself in patience, perseverance, diligence and effort to practice selfless service until enlightenment is achieved. Once enlightened, I will be able to save all beings from suffering and take complete hold of all the sufferings of each being and all beings.''[116]
Loving-kindness occurs when one feels warm in the heart generated by Bodhicitta. It is said that one must feel warmth and compassion towards all the beings who are not the "sinners" of one's life: close relatives, friends, enemies, and neutral ones. Similarly, one must feel compassion for all beings as equal. One must feel sympathy, pity, compassion towards those who are suffering and even towards those who have killed one. If one doesn't feel sympathy, it will be like an utlimate negation for them.[122] One must feel compassion for all beings as equal because sometimes the sufferings of one are more painful than the sufferings of many. However, this should not be a partial sympathy, but an equal sympathy for all, as equal among equals. d2c66b5586
