Coming back to my tutorial. This is what I want to show you in particular. Suppose that you have a VFX that works correctly and you just want to apply some more complicated effects to the VFX. A lot of the effects we use in After Effects can be grouped into categories. For example the Film Edit effects in After Effects are grouped into the category of Film Edit.
Now there are other filters that I use regularly, like the Shrink effect, the Warp effect, the Label effect among others. This way I can make the lips move really close to the actors face in a blink of a eye. In the following image you can see how this is done. When applied to the lips of a face, this looks really fantastic. For more information on other filters and how they work, read the Adobe After Effects CS2 manual
It's actually pretty dark now, but you should be able to see it. By increasing the intensity it makes the lips more visible. If you have told After Effects to create the soft light in your scene it is automatically given a soft light effect. You can try out other lights and see which one you like best.
For example, I use the Film Edit category frequently so I have a search box with the word Film Edit in it. This allows me to search for Film Edit effects. In the following screen shot you can see I have used the Move Puppet filter to pull the mouth of the lips a little closer.
Adding an effect is pretty simple. Just go to the Effect>FX>Add Effect option on your layers or individual effects. If you are using a camera to render your project in After Effects, you can also use the built in renderer, maybe the preview is too small to see the difference. You can play with the options below until you get a result you like.
To do this we will create a new layer and add a motion blur effect to it. To create a new layer in After Effects you can go to the layer dock on the bottom left of your screen and select the + sign. This will add a new layer or library underneath the layers you currently have. You can also select any smart object on the timeline and go to >Select>Layer>New Layer. d2c66b5586
