Based on the reaction of –C[double bond]N2 with formamide and urea, it was theorized that the formation of -dicarbene and nitrile entities on the surface of these aerosols might lead to the formation of BrC specie which are redox reactive.(Fox et al. 2002) Several researchers have also shown that BrC species of -dicarbene type could be potentially formed at the surface of anthropogenic aerosol particles by reaction with nitrogenous species (e.g., amines and amino acids) (Nosenko et al. 2003; Matsushita et al. 2005).
BrC species have also been detected in ancient animal bones such as chicken bones, and ancient microfossils (Schulte im Au et al. 2000). A theoretical study by Commandeur et al. (2009) suggests that archaeal RNA fragments might have formed BrC when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light and water, which is consistent with the idea that BrC were formed on early Earth.
If we are able to uncover the link between water quality and health, great strides will be made in the fight against disease. In this context, there are a number of possible BrC studies, such as to determine which BrC species are toxic to humans and which ones are toxic to various types of pathogens. There are also several possible health-related issues: What are the consequences of our current (and perhaps continuing) attempt to produce climate change? What are the effects of environmental pollution on our health?
It is important to recall that the earth’s biosphere is being rapidly destroyed, and natural biological processes have taken on a greater and greater importance in keeping our atmosphere from totally fouling (particularly if we still have to worry about tectonic plate movement). d2c66b5586
